Mother’s Backyard is the website for author Debra Hester. She wrote a book called “My Backyard Garden” which talks about what she went through grieving the passing of her mother.
Mother’s Backyard goes beyond the book by offering resources and tips for how others can find hope after the passing of a loved one. The website also has a podcast and many opportunities to engage with Hester and receive help and support when grieving.
This was the first website I ever designed using a mix of the Divi and Extra themes, since Hester was looking for a platform to accommodate blogging and her podcast. The website also has a form in which visitors can comment on the book and express how the book has help them. The design of the site drew some inspiration from other authors, such as Amy Tan and John Grisham.
Mother’s Backyard is also one of the first organizations to take advantage of the Full Service plan, in which I offer advice for how to position her website for more traffic. I also make changes to her website upon her request, and I keep an eye out on her site’s analytics via Google Analytics.
